About

Megan’s love for music started in 6th grade band class in Texas when she picked up the flute for the first time. Growing up as an “army brat” meant moving a lot—from Germany to Texas, Missouri, and Kentucky—before finally landing in Stafford, Virginia for high school. Music became a source of comfort and a place of grounding as she moved between states and schools. With the guidance and support of some incredible teachers, Megan honed her talent and skills, which led her to earn a coveted spot in the All-Virginia Band. She has continued progressing under the elite teaching of Dr. Julietta Curenton and has been a part of many major ensembles on and off Shenandoah’s campus.

Megan is currently chasing her musical dreams at Shenandoah University Conservatory seeking a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. She’s been involved in the Flute Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and the SU Marching Band. Megan specializes in flute while also being proficient in piccolo and alto flute.

Mission Statement from Megan:

“I love the feeling of creating art in some way shape or form, whether it’s for a performance, an outlet, or just for fun. I hope to share that feeling with everyone around the world, regardless of where they come from. I hope to give every artist the chance to dream infinite.”

Megan would like to thank the amazing public school band directors who made a difference in her life and inspired her to follow in their footsteps: Ryan Stewart at Copperas Cove Jr. High; Gene Welch at Mountain View High School; Austin Fairley at Mountain View High School. She would also like to thank her flute teachers Dr. Kelly Kazik Ms. Brittney Primavera, and Dr. Julietta Curenton for their dedication and expertise.
